I am a Board Certified Gerontologist Psychotherapist. Working with older individuals and their families is personally and professionally rewarding and I find it a privilege to work with people during this stage of life. As a life-long learner, I am constantly looking for ways to deepen my understanding of human behavior and provide exceptional care.
I know what is involved with caring for an aging family member. I moved across country to care for my great uncle and cared for him for 18 months. During that time I met families who were also struggling with challenges they were facing when deciding how to help parent’s transition to assisted living communities or other living arrangements and adapting into their new environment. That experience inspired me to find a meaningful way to assist people who need guidance and not feel alone in the process.
When appropriate, I find it beneficial to coordinate care working with interdisciplinary teams. This allows access to care providers who excel in a particular aspect of patient care, and they can share that information with you and your loved ones. This provides you with added peace of mind when your family member is in assisted living or skilled nursing or currently undergoing rehabilitation. Each individual brings their personal knowledge, specific skills and knowledge as well as their ongoing education to the team, making it much more effective than a single individual. It also provides access to second opinions from individuals who may have a slightly different background or training too.
